| Hundreds of people, including many of the
approximately 47 owners, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Shelby
Macomb Medical Mall (SMMM) in late July. The three-story, 160,000
square foot medical mall offers patients unique access to healthcare
practices ranging from pulmonary, dentistry, pediatrics, podiatry, to
neurology, dermatology, oncology, and family medicine in an upscale
setting. | Antonio Morreale III M.D. officially opens the Shelby Macomb Medical Mall on July 23, 2009.

Shelby Macomb Medical Mall entrance canopy. | The “medical mall” concept was the brainchild of Antonio Morreale III, M.D. and driven by developer Anthony Fanelli.
In
addition to building the core and shell, Frank Rewold and Son Inc.
worked closely with architect French Associates, Inc and the 27
individual suite owners to coordinate build-outs. “Normally
with a project like this, you have all of the doctors working together
for the same hospital,” said Fanelli. “What’s unique about this,
though, is that all of the doctors here are independent. They’re all working together for the benefit of the patient.” |
A three-story marble atrium replete with extremely high-end finishes warmly welcomes patients and visitors alike.
“Dr. Morreale and Mr. Fanelli understand the importance of value,
service, trust, and integrity. This building is a testament to their
beliefs,” stated project manager Richard Scheck. SMMM will likely
create over 500 new jobs in the Township of Shelby.
“The thorough work plan and determination allowed this to be one of the
smoothest and well-organized projects I have ever been involved with
during my 30+ years of construction experience,” said Fanelli.

School is in Session Rochester Community Schools - Three Bonds Later
Summer
is officially over and school is in session. A year ago, August 2008,
construction was completed on the two remaining projects for the
Rochester Community Schools: Reuther and Van Hoosen Middle Schools.
In
1997, Etkin/Skanksa Rewold – A Joint Venture, entered into a
professional relationship that would span 12 years and three separate
bond programs (1997, 2000, 2004) totaling $250,000,000. The expansion
and enhancement projects for the District included:
• (3) High Schools
• (3) Middle Schools
• (9) Elementary Schools
• (1) Alternative Center for Education (ACE)
• (1) Facility Operations Center
• Athletic field upgrades at the high schools
| | “The
joint venture was managed efficiently with regular meetings at which
both Frank and I participated. This flowed to the team and helped make
the relationship transparent to the Owner,” said Skanska Chief
Compliance Officer, George Fadool.
Rewold is “Aging”
 | As Frank Rewold and Son Inc. continues its legacy of experienced senior
housing construction, we have become a contributing member of the Aging
Services of Michigan (ASM). Through ASM’s Political Action Committee
(PAC), advocacy efforts ensure Michigan’s not-for-profit long-term care
providers are clearly heard in an ever-changing political environment. |
With
our significant amount of experience in senior housing construction, we
feel our services compliment the mission of ASM. Our preconstruction
services can help owners navigate fundamental project components such
as: architect, consultant, site selection, permit requirements, and
agency reviews. Moreover, early budget estimates, schedule milestones,
and safety concerns can be addressed.
We
look forward to our next challenges with exciting additions/renovations
planned for Marywood Nursing Care Center in Livonia and Presbyterian
Village of Michigan in Chesterfield Township, both scheduled to start
this fall.
