On the cusp of new ownership, the Palace of Auburn Hills underwent a major overhaul in several key areas. The most notable changes occured in the Detroit Pistons locker room, media center, and family lounge/green room. This fast-track project, completed in several weeks, required two dedicated site superintendents and careful phasing.
The locker room was completely renovated, with new seating and secure lockers, a new bathroom, therapy room, and coaching staff offices. A separate entrance was created to allow the players to enter and exit more easily. The Hall of Champions, the player's entrance corridor, was re-decorated with floor-to-ceiling graphics depicting champions and well-known players throughout the history of the team.
The family lounge was renovated with new carpet and cabinetry, and this space doubles as a green room for concerts and events. A media center with was re-fitted with new wall-to-wall desks featuring multiple outlets, as well as ample seating for all members of the media. Lastly, a large changing and warm-up area was created for the Pistons dance team, featuring individual lockers, a new bathroom, and plenty of open floor space.
Continuing its legacy as America’s most innovative arena, the Palace of Auburn Hills recently underwent one of its largest enhancement projects since opening in 1988. A 60,000 square foot addition to expand its North Entrance and the construction of an exclusive Courtside Lounge and Club under the arena’s east seating area were completed in 2006. The project has created a new grand entrance which provides guests with additional concourse space, increased dining options and amenities, additional box office windows, a new retail area, a dramatic restaurant/club and ground-breaking lounge/club areas.
Below the entry level sits the exclusive Platinum Club, which features eight private suites, for the ultimate in deluxe corporate entertaining. In addition, an area behind and beneath the arena’s east seating sections will be transformed into the dazzling Courtside Lounge and Club, which boasts five private luxurious rooms.
Annually, the Palace of Auburn Hills is one of North America’s busiest venues. Over the last 10 years, Rewold has worked on a multitude of projects. The building always remained fully and safely operational reporting no injuries.
Currently, the Rewold team is on site at the Palace constructing a new player's locker room, General Manager's office, and player's family lounge.
